…and it was all going…so swell. A free email account created when most people chose Netscape, a time when you couldn’t find anything on the internet because it hadn’t been indexed. The spiders were still daphne.

Years later as many companies did, Yahoo invested monies into ‘next big thing’ items, MyBlogLog being one of them. MyBlogLog wasn’t innovative, the fact of seeing what other registered members had been to your blog had been originally done at Modblog.com earlier in the decade.

Eric on the other hand grew up to turn his childhood toys and snippets of code into machines, when prior potentials meandered off. Yet in still the first year of Yahoo owning what amounted to simple scripting, back doors were exploited twice: one publicly coming to light, the other not. I know this because I was the ‘not’.

Things online like any other trend go in cycles, curves, and whistles. Personally I believe that somewhere there are those that use five year file folders waiting to recycle toys, once they’re forgotten by the masses.

I sometimes wonder if our children will one day play with toy garbage with worms and eyeballs as we once did.

Maybe on one hand I could undergo laser spine surgery for my sore aching back, rather than having it ripped out like in a science fiction horror story. This last week since doing the annual homeless census and survey was more tasking than I thought, going into the woods and engaging people ‘hard sleeping’.

The irony is there were more cats found than people. One camp in particular wasn’t merely from children that had put up a tent. It’d been abandoned for a few days minimum and was a humurous incident when the accompanying nurse was perusing the strewn pornography in the camp area.

I had to point out it wasn’t from homeless people. The issue of Penthouse was from March 1972, the looks of it appearing to have come from a hidden parent’s or uncle’s stash rather than anything found in the circles of homeless barterers using it as currency.

It would take five days before my back returned to normal after going high and low over hill and dale that night. At least nobody stepped on a board with nails.

Guest post from: Constance Rodgers

Moving to a new area is never easy but we were both just really hoping the transition wouldn’t be too hard on the kids. My husband’s new job finally made it affordable for us to get a bigger house out in the country but I hated having to pick my kids up and take them away from the school and friends they loved.

I love the idea of starting over, though, so I think it’s going to be a really good change for the whole family. When we first got here I researched school sports they could play and satellite internet pricingso they could email with all their friends back home (I think they’re still too young for cell phones) and I talked to them one on one about what the change was going to mean.

They start school in just a couple of weeks and I know they’re all really nervous but I can’t wait for this next phase in their life. I already love it here and I know with a little time, so will they.

You can get a Arai Corsair V, some leather, and you can look cool. Or not, and whatever you like. For me helmets always kept me safe, as opposed to the reality of my head smashed into the gravel or found later protruding from the back of a tractor trailer rig.

It still amazes me the amount of young people inexperienced and involved in motorcycle deaths, decade after decade. Oddly enough, they’re also not usually on the receiving end: I’ve seen more helmetless fatalities where the responsible party was in fact a young adult in a four wheeler.

That’s why I wear a helmet. Because the other guy’s usually a twat who doesn’t really care if I make it home or not in time for dinner.
