Getting the most out of cell phones

A few years ago when I got my first ‘smartphone’, I refrained from additional unnecessary accessories. At the time I wasn’t aware of what a cell booster could do, if anything I’d come across mere antenna boosters that could be slipped on the interior along the back of a battery.

Times have changed with many companies incorporating ‘touch’ technology. My own iPod being sealed there’s not many options other than what can be plugged in the bottom. Then again, this technology is always shortlived. My own 3rd generation iPod replaced not long after a year of going on the market.

I wonder if in ten years from now when we have implants if the accessories will require we install additional hubs in our body…and where?

Pants, shoes, belts, shirts

The only thing above not listed are skinny ties! Between the changing signs of the seasons, not to mention my midriff, this is one of those areas in my life I have the hardest problem with.

Years ago I could match up clothes by little animals printed on my clothes’ tags. Now it’s not so easy, the cost of IZOD clothing prohibits this on my budget.

The other option would be to go faith based, there’s tons of religions that require specific clothing…not to mention underwear! I wonder sometimes…could I get a job as an undergarment inspector?

Cost and effect

Between grocery shopping and home upkeep of my computer systems, I constantly look at the ‘bottom line’ and ways to lower my cost.

Sometimes I’ll use online coupons, local ad inserts, or check if both a merchant and their competition maintain online specials or weekly promotions.

Another option is to follow blogs specific to my geographic area if shopping, or technology niche for news on potential higher cost items over $50.00 I may need.

Self versus hosted hosting

A couple of months ago my friend and I went on a geek date, I had the chance of following him to where his server rack mount was physically located during an intense Denial of Service (DoS) attack was going on from Africa.

Since then I’ve been looking ultimately at the time when I ‘could’ make the move from leasing host space to self hosting on my own server. In the end, I’d still be paying someone for access and physical real estate for the equipment.

Looking at all the options for the most part bloggers don’t need anything further than what they’re using, it’s when they become million dollar generating entities that they should only consider self support. In the long run the headaches are cheaper.
