Homeless In Jax…it’s GONE! It ran away!

Ok, so much for the drama. I’ve publicly released it to it’s own fate. On one side of me, I’m a blogger. On the other, geek. You can’t do both on a site advocating for homeless people professionallly, and you honestly can’t geek on Blogger…least not REALLY geek out.

For any of my regular readers I’d like to ask them to register there for testing purposes, as well as giving feedback back as to what you think should change, stay, or be taken away totally. This is my first attempt at creating anything like this, and anyone playing with the features will be a big help.

Thanks! So many people have helped me over the last three years in regards to learning PHP, SQL, and so many other things I never touched on. The fact that I learned all this while homeless isn’t a badge or anything, but more of a tribute to how much people can help someone through mentoring online.

It’s a guy thing. Turning around while beginning to zip your fly up, trying to remember to keep everything…intact, and forgetting about that little handle you were just facing. Blogs are like that too. Blogging in public away from your server. Sometimes you forget to do those polite little things.

Over the next month, sometime…someday…I’ll post my last entry here on Blogger. The choice has nothing to do with Blogger. It’s more of a matter of personal development in blogging, with some things I’m interested in doing really needing to be hosted on my own server.

I’ll put up a nice ‘you should go here link thingy’ on the last entry as well. The blog’s going to be placed at Homeless In Jax. The site’s already been backed up, but will be put ‘down’ for a week while I start ‘deploying’ the new blog there.

Originally, I wanted the site to ’say’ something about homelessness here, but the more I look at homelessness in my city, I realize there is just no way I can relate to so many diverse sections of humanity while relating my own unique attributes.

When Person A says ‘homeless’, Person B thinks one stereotype. I’ve been in places where 300 homeless people stood, and over 90 percent were totally different visions than what Person B above visualized. I don’t live like the majority of people do, sheltered or not.

I live like I do.
I breath like I do.
I eat like I do.

I am 1. 299 others are each also 1.

That being the case, I’ll do as I wish in blogging what I choose on Homeless In Jax. If City Hall, the service providers, the case managers, and businesses in Jacksonville, Florida don’t like it…

…they can buy it for $15,000.00. That’s if they’re nice.

My daughter’s commencement was pretty special for her. She got the chance of meeting former Jacksonville Sheriff Nat Glover, had her yearbook signed, and all kinds of other goofy things girls her age do in public when everyone’s wearing the same shirt and slacks.

My wife was able to slip out past security after shooting the former sheriff with my camera.

Thanks, but not for me. My older daughter received it this year. When she started the school year, it was the first in three years that she had been in a home of her own and out of the homeless shelter system.

She was doing good then. Where she’s gone since we’ve gotten out has exceeded our expectations. When she didn’t have a place to do homework regularly, she fitted in locations where she could put her books and paper out and do her work. Since having a table to sit at regularly, a room to spread her stuff around, she was able to thrive as any child applying themselves.

Me, proud. Obviously, I…never lost any hair over making her do homework…cause I had on hair at the time.:)

Extraction of teeth and placement of dentures: $1300.00
Meatball and cheese pureed: $3.50.
Being able to smile without worry: Priceless.

Since the final extractions, I could already feel the difference of loss of infection being spread down through my chest.

Nicest thing I’ve found even though I’m still going through ‘discomfort’: I can eat ice cream and drink fluids with ice without pain shooting through my sinuses.

I’m not having as much trouble talking, but learning to chew is going to take getting used to. Food processor helps for the moment.

A few things of note…

Jacqueline Dowd; author of The 13th Juror on Blogger; never heard of me prior. One simple comment on an entry she made, and I’m a link in her sidebar…thanks J.

Likewise, Liz from Successful Blog(gers) declared this blog as a ‘Successful and Outstanding Blog‘. I get my own badge to put up on my site. For now, it’s on my image server and you can see it here, until I choose where to move things around on the sidebar. Promise, it’ll go up soon Liz…and thanks, honestly.

We’ve all pretty much heard of the other major players in blogs about homeless people. They were predominantly by single males and females, or groups of them…or groups of kangaroos and wallabees…or…who cares about what.

Speaking of Kangaroos, wallabees, and weirdness in general…I wanted to take the chance to do something I hadn’t had the chance to. I’d actually been blogging on this account a year prior to his. Since then, Joey has referenced me a number of times…in posts I made that were humorous, political knowledge, from my gut, and when media was reporting on me. He’s even linked to my posts where I lapsed into dumpster diving to feed my addiction and lifestyle. If you haven’t read that one and have a blog, CLICK IT NOW!

That…touches me. Honestly. Please go tell Joey Marchy I want to be his big fat older brother once removed. Unfortunately, putting up pictures of me in a bath as a child would be considered ‘child porn’, so…for Joey…here’s something just for him. See the resemblence?

Please? Will you do that…for me? It’s either that, or I start telling people you and me are having a relationship.
