Mouth’s Day Of Rest

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

List of things I ate over the last few days.

Stuffed Bell Peppers with Bratwurst, Rice, Green Onion, and Cheese.
Boboli Pizzas, ham/pineapple, cheese, and pepperoni.
Hershey’s Cocoa Reserve dark chocolate. I let it melt, can’t bite it.

The biggest thing is to schedule denture adhesive prior to the meal, to set the dentures in correct place for chewing.

I still can’t get over not having problems drinking cold beverages, let alone ice on my gums without pain. I also noticed at work I’ve been a little weaker in lifting things I normally use their weight as leverage…just little things, but shows I need to eat better.

Tonight I’m doing the chicken salad sandwich thing. Tomorrow I shall worry about an attempt to lose weight.

Linksys Routing

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

A few months ago I picked up a wireless router from Linksys, with no experience in networking whatsoever before. My main concerns were in anyone getting inside my computer, or doing anything over my internet connection that could come back to haunt me.

Rather than get additional hardware for sharing a printer, I decided to install my new printer on the tower PC the kids use and then share it as a resource with my laptop running over the WiFi. It’ll save a few bucks in having to have a print server.

Getting Around Jacksonville by bus is still a hassel

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I did the math again over the amount of time I’m spending involving work, including commute and transfer times. I’m still doing thirteen hours of time away from home in the process of providing for same said home.

Add on top of that situations where busses break down, having to stand while going over huge bridges over the St. Johns River, and poor service on the weekends. Then again, it could be worse…the price of gas is scheduled to go up again, kids.

I spotted a truck the other day, decked out in what could only be described as a Dodge Charger accessory package…or was it just a Civic wannabe with rims? You know, the ones that look like they’ve got little tires like on a Hot Wheels car? Kids…when I was their age I was happy to have a tree in the yard to crash in with my snowmobile…that’s until my dad took it away, like he did my violin.

I’m sorry, I’m having a moment. Please stand by.

Okay, all better. Jacksonville Transportation Authority months ago disclosed they were going to be including WiFi on some of their bus lines. Haven’t seen it yet, course on the busses I ride there’s not much call for it from the existing riders. You’d have to have PDA and laptop users willing to pull them out in front of thugs to be able to SEE there was a need on a line…wouldn’t you?

On JTA’s BOB…no pun intended, it’s “Bikes On Busses”…JTA went the route of not requiring people to have a permit to put their bike in the front rack. Now anyone with a brain can wait until the bus stops, pull down a latch, put their bike in the rack, and slide the retaining bar on the front tire.

They probably were afraid of all the Polacks trying to put the bikes in the rack before the bus stopped, or somethin’.

Things Going On Update

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I added the cool AIM indicator on my other blog, soon to be here, so everyone knows if they can yack at me.

This cool script shows what’s been going on, in a nutshell. Honestly, I thought it was just me, but a lot of PPP users have contacted me it was wrong, and would have been hot if a comment made about work at home moms had been made. Thanks gals!

Letter Sent To My Company

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

A month ago I told my company I wanted them to give $1,000,000.00 to the I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless. One guy chuckled. Another one did too.

I kept my chin up and the formal packet is in the hands of my company’s philanthropic section. Below is the letter I attached to the packet. Three details were removed, due to matters of privacy.

My name is John C. I work with my peers @ our Jacksonville, Florida facility. I’ve been a part of this company just since October of 2006. For the two prior years my wife, children and I called the I.M. Sulzbacher Center our home as well.I have seen personally the effects of this service’s absence & pressence in our community as a direct recipient, peer to many recipients, and advisor to a handful of providers of services to people experiencing homelessness. My own spouse deals with Neuropathy as a result of her Diabetes. The I.M. Sulzbacher Center’s Medical Clinic was primarily responsible for having detected this as early as it had been, due to it’s availability to consumers that can’t be found as readily elsewhere during a difficult time in life.

I have seen the changes in quality of life as well as lives saved from being helped when they’re unable to get help elsewhere.

I have seen families in such fragile and tender states that have thrived when otherwise they would not due to this agency. My own family is a testament to their need in our community. While my wife and I were ultimately responsible for having gotten our family out of homelessness, it would have been longer…if not at all…had it not been for this agency’s help.

On behalf of my family in my home, my workplace, and my community I ask you to give favorable consideration for funding of the I.M. Sulzbacher Center in their request. They are constantly used as a reference to many people I speak with in need of assistance prior to becoming homeless.

    Thank you for your consideration.

    John C
    Jacksonville, Florida

Friday Night

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Angry Hot SunBetween JTA’s local transit BS; got home AFTER 7:00 PM; and the heat, I opted for staying in. Originally I’d wanted to check out TSI downtown on Bay Street, but there’s always next week.

Got some things done with my original blog; Homeless Family; as well as being happy when I checked my mail. I’ve made over $200.00 my first month with advertising, half already received and in the bank and the other half due shortly to hit! Granted, I never got into ‘monetizing’ and total adverts screaming, but I chose to use ‘Info’ as a category for my regular readers so they don’t go “WTF, sellin’ out?” on me.

Plans on the funds include:

  • Equipment: Laptop and Camcorder
  • Promotion: Business Cards, Designed Shirts, Promotional Items

At the moment I’m trying to determine if I should concentrate on simply going LLC, or if there’s any way to maintain control and vision if I chose to create a 501c. While there’s many things that could benefit from going 501c, I know too many people that have had major problems and ended up walking out of their own project they started before it ever made headway due to complications involving well intentioned people.

Santa Sightings Confirmed Online During Extreme Heat Wave

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Seems I was right when I picked up on some developments in MyBlogLog, before Ian ever blogged about it. Santa Claus himself has validated this blog and given it an award.

While many people originally thought this was someone masquerading as ‘the guy’, I can attest that I was emailed from Santa-mail.com. Immediately after I identified a problem Santa had, and offered him free technical support.

Spread the word. There’s a real elf on this blog. He’s takin’ names, and kickin’ icycles. Worse than bad, he makes Good good, for goodness’s sake!

Watch out! Santa Claus is com-in, ta BLOGSSSSS!
