.: Donations of entertainment equipment have their effects on people experiencing homelessness
Saturday, July 5th, 2008A number of times; having been within the homeless system for two years; I’ve had the chance of witnessing firsthand ‘downtime’ of families trying to get it together.
Kids are kids. They watch television in their spare time, play video games, and do Pokemon battles. If you think a TV wall mount wouldn’t be appreciated in a family dorm setting of a homeless shelter, think again.
If a television isn’t wall mounted, it depends on valuable space needed for a floor stand, end table, or chest of drawers recycled as a stand. Many corporations choosing to do end of year charitable giving sometimes don’t think ahead and accessorize completely gifts they’re giving.
If you want to have a better effect on your own charitable giving, contact the agency in advance to see if there are any new gifts received that would be better suited with an accessory, stand, or other add on…that’ll make a better addition to lives on their own path to stability.
