Professionalism

Months ago I successfully applied and received my papers as a Florida Certified Recovery Peer Specialist. It’s not a dead end profession, it’s a starting point…but only as much as a person invests in their education.

The other day someone asked me about my plans on returning to school. Options of ‘real time’ curriculum as opposed to pursuing one of many business administration associate degrees. Myself, I’d done the ‘distance learning’ gig before being diagnosed Bipolar in ’97. Now medicated and living through recovery, I’d have a better chance.

For most people wanting to go back in later life, online education is great. If a person can manage blogging on multiple sites for two years, then in my opinion they’ve already established having skills to do it.

Are there barriers? Sure, but compared to a decade ago, many improvements have been achieved to overcome them. Fact is no school wants people to fail. It’s not good PR and just like blogging, PR is what gets results.
