Hey, it’d be cool to think of oneself oneday becoming the next Steve Case and creating brands that bring value to everyone they touch!
But this is reality and you won’t get there as easily as if you chose one of many investment banker jobs!
The biggest hurdle anyone experiencing homelessness faces in getting a job; next to a home…or shower…or phone; is education. It’s enough of a problem that Florida Community College of Jacksonville developed a program that permits ANYONE that is identified and confirmed homeless a free higher education.
The thing is it’s a little known fact, so little that I myself didn’t learn of it until AFTER I got out of homelessness. If I had been aware of it, I’d have been able to walk in my new home with a degree a few years ago.
If you’re homeless and within a program, contact the guidance counselor at the downtown campus and specifically ask to speak to someone about free education for homeless people.
Oh..yeah..it’s kind of embarrassing…but it beats waiting until later and having to take out a loan for it you’ll end up losing your home over if not paid timely.
