The iPad

February 7th, 2010

With the hype about iPads, nobody’s talking about ipods. I think that’s a shame. But given the world is wanting what they want, far be it from me to argue.

My take on the iPad?

Bad. Very Bad.

  • It’s OS driven, so it won’t be able to serve people outside of the Mac community.
  • It’s too early for a true Web3.0 device, simply because the Web3.0 patch has NOT been deployed.
  • It’s a known issue that consumers getting into it won’t have the experience to reverse engineer anything on their own. Calls to support will be massive.
  • Such calls will ultimately in my opinion result in farming out technical support eventually to India, a matter that destroyed trust of numerous companies since the burst of the bubble of the internet. Research AOL LLC, et al.

Where is it now?

February 7th, 2010

A few years ago I dropped down some cash and picked up an HTC Dash through “they who shall remain nameless”, rather than go with a unlocked phone.

Big mistake. The cool thing was I lasted a year and the system sucked so bad, they ended up getting a class action lawsuit. My final amount owed for breaking the contract came to less than $30USD.

Do I advocate gaming the system?  No.

I advocate getting away with things if you can.  Easier when the bad boys are ‘really’ bad.  Nuff said.

Where is meh plate?

The drudgery of the dentures. Constantly do I find myself putting them down, in my pocket…anywhere rather than a cup or case. I’ve found friends doing the same constantly. All of them having the masses pulled, since they hadn’t gotten the services of the like of aPlano dentist.

Possibly in the next few years I’ll consider going for implants. For over a year I haven’t enjoyed peanuts or other enjoyable ‘man snacks’.

Have you gotten your teeth pulled? How did you do with the transition? I’d like to know. Comment please.

Professionalism

February 3rd, 2010

Months ago I successfully applied and received my papers as a Florida Certified Recovery Peer Specialist. It’s not a dead end profession, it’s a starting point…but only as much as a person invests in their education.

The other day someone asked me about my plans on returning to school. Options of ‘real time’ curriculum as opposed to pursuing one of many business administration associate degrees. Myself, I’d done the ‘distance learning’ gig before being diagnosed Bipolar in ‘97. Now medicated and living through recovery, I’d have a better chance.

For most people wanting to go back in later life, online education is great. If a person can manage blogging on multiple sites for two years, then in my opinion they’ve already established having skills to do it.

Are there barriers? Sure, but compared to a decade ago, many improvements have been achieved to overcome them. Fact is no school wants people to fail. It’s not good PR and just like blogging, PR is what gets results.

My doctor is important to my medication management

Now if I take some bodybuilding supplements, does it mean I’m a woosy?

No, not at all. I had an uncle that used them year ago. Nothing illegal, over the counter stuff he got locally.

It’s not like my feelings on sinus meds. Most of them aren’t safe, according to my doctore, when we talked about extended healthcare issues like heart problems.

With being bipolar, I tend to make sure to talk to him, regardless of anything new I’m taking medicinally, whether over the counter pill or introducing new nutrients. It’s something I recommend anyone else do likewise.

More zits

My son’s lucky, the last few visits to the doctor he’s been having his ‘teen thing’ clear up gradually. He actually remarked he didn’t want to get rid of them fully. Seems his little girlfriend thinks their ‘manly’.

He dates two years younger. Robbin’ the cradle. Bein’ the ‘man’.

But for older guys, adult acne isn’t funny. Myself I’ve been fortunate. The occasional whitehead only occurring due to a total disregard for diet.

Obviously not having anything to do with ‘not any’.

Just sayin’.

Cheers!

Which comes first, saving face or the body under it

January 27th, 2010

Being an older has been geek, I’ve got lines at the edges of my eyes. Some people go for researching strivectin reviews, me…never tried ‘em.

I can say that the most prone part of a geeks body to become damaged isnt the Carpal Tunnel. It’s the back. A person ‘might’ have a decent chair in a cubicle, at home it’s a different story. Being a ‘netbooker’, I tend to work at the kitchen table with a straight back chair.

In the past I used to use an improvised desk. Unfortunately, I was also using a second hand cheap ‘desk’ swivel chair. The kind with five wheeled feet and a cheap screw stem that wobbles the higher extended. Add to that the carpeting without proper plastic guarding, and you’re looking at an accident waiting to happen.

Either the back goes out from lack of support or proper seating, as well as a shattered arm due to breaking a fall.

Get a chair before you need more than fixing more than the lines on your face.

Hurting when it’s time to get up

January 27th, 2010

Living with Depression and Bipolar Disorder, I know what it feels like to hurt when getting up sometimes in the morning. Of not wanting to do anything functional other than relieve one’s self. Some of my peers advocate using homeotherapy, joint supplements, and even aromatherapy.

With the change in weather recently, it’s been worse for many people otherwise not affected during the warmer months.

If you’re experiencing such and haven’t talked to your doctor for options, it’s something I’d recommend anyone to consider.

When they get old

January 27th, 2010

I’ve got a friend that turned ’something’. Being a girl; at least I think she’s a girl; she’s apt to using stuff like lipstick, hair color, and collagen face cream.

Me, I’ve got naturally curly toe nails. Wonderful bald spot that gleans, especially when I sweat…or don’t bath for days.

The older a woman gets, the more she ‘needs’ these things for enhancing the ‘necessities’.

And if she may develop cucumberlings due to non-bra-age, well…that’s why there’s always robbin’ the cradle for men of wisdom.

Believe it…or not.

The lives of children

January 27th, 2010

So there I was, on the phone speaking with the nice lady from Communities in Schools listening to her tale of my son accused of being caught in a younger girl’s closet by her mother.

Get a life woman, the kid needs to worry about best acne treatments more than the urine cup her mom demanded of her!

Currently I’m working on a project for developing an online community. Originally a local initiative, more interest coming for it going state wide. It’s been a good example of ‘functional levels’ of people being different.

Not all professionals have my same expectancies of availability of information.

Sucks being them.
